The Tobe region of Ehime Prefecture is situated in the northwest island of Shikoku, Japan. This small town is known to produce quality porcelain known as "Tobe Ware".
What makes it so special? The transparent white porcelain of Tobe Ware is a result of a special technique to craftsmen whereby it creates a slight bluish colour from the effects of iron. With its long history and sophistication, Tobe Ware is still a highly valued and regarded form of handicraft even in the modern landscape.
